You were born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and later moved to Tampa, Florida. How did growing up in such different environments shape you as a person?

I`m grateful to have had the experience to grow up in a small town and then move across the country to a different atmosphere. I`ve experienced private and public schools, and I think learning about different cultures and making friends in all walks of life has helped me become a well-rounded person. It humbles you to be aware of issues that affect other people and takes you out of your own frame of mind and get other perspectives.

What are some of your fondest memories from your childhood in Alaska?

Playing outside all day with my friends. It was so fun, whether it was snowing and below 20 degrees or in the 70s during the summer, just being free to see my friends with no technology and using our creativity was the best! Also, going on fishing trips with my family during the summer was always a blast.

You’ve had a diverse career — from professional golfer to real estate brokerage to business ownership. What has driven you to explore such different industries?

I would say not succeeding as I had anticipated and learning to be open to new ventures and being open-minded was the catalyst for all these different career choices. I think it`s a blessing to have the option to switch directions. Likewise, I believe our generation and this new generation can value changing careers versus older generations where they were stuck in one profession. Having the support of my family and friends. You don`t have to be the best at everything, but you can keep growing as a person and adapt to new situations in this day is important.

From 2016 to 2022, you owned and operated sober living homes. What inspired you to take on that role, and what was the most rewarding part of that experience?

I had close loved ones that had issues with substance use disorders, and watching their journey recover and succeed in their sobriety really touched me. My background was in real estate, and watching some homes in such awful conditions inspired me to start in the industry. I wanted to have a safe space for those recovering, as they could be your own mother, father or child, and you would want them in a safe environment during a tumultuous and vulnerable time for all involved.

What motivated you to transition into the beauty industry and buy Silky Beauty Supply?

After the pandemic, I was burned out in my current business as well as my partner in his business and wanted to try a new venture with different growth opportunities. So this was my first time operating a retail business. The store was already established for 15 years, so they had a great clientele and staff.

What’s the biggest challenge of running a beauty supply business, and what sets your store apart from others?

Physically being in one location and having to operate all business hours is the toughest part. But the best part is my new work family, having the ability to bring my doodle to work at any time is also a bonus too. Our store isn`t a corporate store, so we can set our own parameters, which is great. Unlike other stores in the area, we have a wide variety of options for hair extensions, wigs, hair care, etc. I also feel like this industry requires more knowledge as the beauty industry is always changing, but also being able to hear firsthand what consumers need.

You’ve been modeling for nearly 15 years, appearing in commercials, campaigns, films, NYFW, runway shows, and editorials. What has been your most memorable experience in the industry?

My most memorable experience would be my first runway show and editorials shoot. You get so nervous!

How do you balance being both a businesswoman and a model?

Having support, you can trust at business and time management skills. I am always running around and playing catch up, but just taking it day by day.

What do you enjoy the most about modeling, and how has the industry changed since you started?

I enjoy the ever-changing experiences at the shoots or shows. But I love seeing my friends in the industry at bookings where we can catch up, and meeting new people in the industry. I will say, when I first started, social media wasn`t necessary, but now it is everything and that blows my mind, but I think it`s a great avenue.

How do you like to spend your free time outside of work and modeling?

Spending every moment with my fiancé Eddy and our mini goldendoodle Banksy. He is my baby and I love just being with him. Also, trying to see my friends and family.

What’s one personal goal you hope to achieve in the next five years?

I`m not sure about timelines with my goals, but I believe I`ll know more about my goals by the end of this year.

Looking back at everything you’ve done so far, what are you most proud of?

I`m proud of my mistakes that led me down different paths. But honestly, being a dog mom is my best achievement!

What’s one lesson you’ve learned from your career that you’d like to share with others?

You will make mistakes, and that`s ok. Learn from them and grow, and don`t be afraid to take more chances!
