UKRAINIANS TELL ABOUT RUSSIAN CRIMES IN UKRAINE AT UN INTERNATIONAL COURT IN THE HAGUE
Russia has refused to participate in these hearings at all.
The International Court of Justice in The Hague has begun proceedings in the case of genocide by Russia. Ukraine filed the lawsuit on February 26. Our country demands from Russia to refute the argument about the genocide of the Russian-speaking population in Ukraine. It is an imaginary genocide that justifies Russian attack on Ukraine when Russia itself commits crimes and kills civilians.
The hearing is taking place in the International Court of Justice at the United Nations in The Hague. They started at 11 o'clock. Today judges are listening to Ukraine. The first words came from the representative of Ukraine. The Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea, Anton Korynevych, stated that Russia is currently firing on and killing innocent Ukrainians. "We are here today, in this house called the House of Peace, but in my home my country has faced aggression and war. I am in this hall, which is called the "Great Hall of Justice", but in my home, my fellow citizens do not see justice, but Russian bombs and rockets falling on our cities. While I am standing here, Ukrainians are being fatally attacked, " the Ukrainian representative said in court.
Russia justifies its attacks on Ukraine by lying about the genocide of Russian-speakers in Ukraine. In fact, it is not Ukraine but Russia that is guilty of genocide, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukraine's representatives in court. Russian arguments are lies and falsifications. Russia is abusing the UN Convention on the Prevention of Genocide to justify its own crimes in Ukraine. This is how Ukraine's lawsuit against Russia can be described.
"Putin is constantly lying when he says he has come to stop the genocide. In fact, he attacked us and arranges the genocide of the Ukrainian people. This is not Ukraine, this is the Russian criminal government and military personnel, those who commit war crimes, " was said in the court.
Lawyers from Ukraine state that Russia is deliberately killing Ukrainians and that Putin denies the existence of the Ukrainian people as a nation. Russia also deliberately distorts and abuses the Convention on the Prevention of Genocide when it lies about genocide in Ukraine and aknowledges the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Today's hearings will last till 2 pm, then our representatives will make a statement.
Russia refused to participate in the process. This was announced by the UN International Court of Justice. The Kremlin does not want to defend itself against Ukraine's accusations. According to the plan, Russia was to be heard tomorrow and the court expected that Russian lawyers would challenge the court's jurisdiction. The Russian ambassador to the Netherlands wrote in a letter about Russia's refusal, - the president of the court said, saying that she regretted the decision, but Russia's refusal did not stop the hearings.
Obviously, Moscow's refusal to even take part in the trial demonstrates how Kremlin despises world law and international law.
Meanwhile, another international tribunal has launched an investigation into Russia's war crimes in Ukraine. This is the International Criminal Court, which is also located in The Hague. And it is even more interesting - this court is investigating not just the country of Russia, but specific individuals and against Putin. The chief prosecutor of the court has already launched an investigation and evidence is being collected.
The legal front is one of the few where Ukraine is fighting. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba stated that Ukraine also defends the international law and order.
